When you sign out of a phone or tablet remotely, none of your Dropbox files can be opened or accessed from that device until you sign in again, including files you made available offline.

Note: If a computer is lost or stolen, Dropbox users on Plus, Family, Professional, or Business plans can choose to remotely delete all of their Dropbox files while signing out remotely.

However, changes made to your Dropbox files on that computer won’t sync everywhere else you access your files in Dropbox until you sign back in on that device.

(This includes folders backed up from your computer, but doesn’t include online-only files). When you sign out of a computer remotely, the Dropbox files synced to that computer remain on that computer and can still be accessed and opened. If you sign into, it doesn’t add that device to your device list. Note: This only applies if you sign into the desktop or mobile app. (This was formerly called “linking and unlinking” your devices and your accounts).

When you download and sign into the Dropbox desktop app or the Dropbox mobile app on any computer, phone, or tablet, that device is added to your device list in the security page of your account settings.
